Tin Can Flower Vase

Here is a cute way to dress up a tin can.
All I did was use a foam paint brush and brush the can with Mod Podge glue. Then I took a piece of wrapping paper and wrapped it around the can. Let dry. Then paint over the paper with the glue again to seal it. Let dry and it's done!
You can also use scrapbooking paper or tissue paper.

Pine Cone Bird Feeders

The kids and I made pine cone bird feeders this evening. We have pine cones everywhere around where we live except in our yard because we have no trees in our yard! So we went to this small lake close to our house and gathered 2 Wal-Mart sacks full. Here's how we did it.
Smeared peanut butter around the bottom of the pine cone and then rolled into the bird seed. Wrapped a piece of yard around the top and hung on the front porch.
So we will see in the morning it the birds like it or not. :)
P.S we only made 2 just in case you were wondering if I had a bunch on pine cones hanging from my front porch. I will use the rest for decorations :)

Homemade Playdough

This is an all time favorite at our house. My kids love to help make this. And it's super easy to make:
1 cup of flour
1/2 cup of salt
2 teaspoons of cream of tartar
1 cup of water
2 Tablespoons of cooking oil or salad oil
food coloring
Mix flour, salt and cream of tartar together in a large sauce pan. Add the water, oil, and food coloring of you choice. Cook and stir over medium heat until the dough leaves the side of the pan. Roll out dough onto counter top and knead until smooth. This playdough will last for a month or longer if kept in an air tight container.

You can also try:
Adding an unsweetened fruit mix drink instead of the food coloring. It gives it a fruity scent.
If you want to make more than one color: Cook the playdough as directed but leave out the food coloring. Knead dough onto a counter top and make 4 balls (or more whatever you choose). Then add the food coloring of your choice to each ball. Store into 4 small air tight containers

First time blogger

So this is my first time blogging. I have decided to use a blog just for everyday things. (can't say I will post something everyday :) I thought I could use this as a good stress reliever as well as posting some of the everyday things that I do with my kiddo's, favorite craft projects, recipes, etc. Here goes nothing.....
